Monday, 21st Rainy. I went this morning to C. Rayhill's and remained all day and night.

20 April 1862

Sunday, 20th Rainy. Last night it rained and continues to day. I remained here all day, very lonesome. Spent the eve with Mr. J. F.

19 April 1862

Saturday, 19th This morning I went to Mr. Andrew Fike's. Remained there all day. Saw several of the neighbors.

18 April 1862

Friday, 18th Pleasant. Last night was rainy, but to day is clear and pleasant. My foot is much better to day, but I cannot yet walk on it. Several called to see me to day also. This evening I went into the country to Mr. Sullivan's.

17 April 1862

Thursday, 17th Rainy. To day my foot was very lame owing to over exercise upon it, but by bathing it, became better. Many of the neighbors called to see me to day, also some ladies.

16 April 1862

April, Wednesday, 16th 1862 Cloudy and rainy. My foot pained me some last night. This morning I was besieged by the neighbors when [they] came to inquire for their sons or friends, and talked until I was really tired out, then I took a seat to arrange my wardrobe.
