"Sunday, 31st Pleasant. E.I.R.B. Ezk. 43-44-45. I attended class this morn. Had a good time. I then attended church. Heard a good sermon by Dr. Cobleigh. We had the organ with the singing to day. I attended at night also. I heard the Dr. preach on sacred music."

"Saturday, 30th Rainy. E.I.R.B. Ezk. 40-41-42. All is quiet to day. I was engaged in writing all day to day. At night I called on Miss Price.

"Thursday, 28th A little rain. E.I.R.B. Ezk. 34-35-36th. The report that Vicksburg is taken is not so, but the prospect is that it will be taken soon. I read Wesley's 62 sermon to night.
