15 April 1861

Tuesday, 15th Pleasant. This morning at 3 A.M. I started on the train for Lebanon where I arrived at 12 M. I saw several of my old school mates, then got a carriage and started for Mascoutah, Mr. Wallace accompanying me. We arrived at Mascoutah at sun set and stopped at Mr. H. C. Fike's. I spent the eve in talking with many of the friends that called on me, then at a late hour, retired much fatigued and tired of relating incidents of the battle.
