28 May 1861
Tuesday, 28th Eng. in drilling. Marched up the river several miles. Spent the eve at the St. Charles Hotel in the ladies parlor listening to music and engaged in singing. Rumors that a reg. under Col. Blair would occupy Birds Point during the night. Got my uniform to day.
May 28rd Received a letter from Miss Mary Nelson, Welbridge, Ills.
