14 October 1861

Monday, 14th Pleasant. This morning I was called upon to act as officer of the day. Some more rebels were taken. Among them was the Sheriff of this, McCracken, Co. I bought a large pistol to day, one that was found at the place where the rebels captured our pickets. I paid $17.00 for it, then sold my little one for the same. In the eve. a show was held in the camp by some minstrels. To day I had quite an interview with Judge Tremble, the Union candidate for congressman last fall but was defeated by Barnatt (sic).
