16 October 1861

Wednesday, 16th Pleasant. E.I.R.B. II Cron. 12th II Corth. 9th & 10th. This morning I visited Gen. Paine's quarters on business. Had quite a sociable time with the Col. and Maj. In the afternoon we had battalion drill and then marched through the city. Rec. the news of the battle between Montgomery and McCulloch which took place on the 6th inst. on the Osage River in S. Mo., also the details of the other battle. This Rainy. E.I.R.B. Cron. 13 - II Corth 11th.
