8 October 1861


Tuesday, 8th Pleasant. E.I.R.B. II Cron. 5th II Corth. 2d. I came off duty as officer of the day this morning. I then went to the city. Had quite a pleasant chat with Mr. Newman, the beef contractor. To day the Col. gave me the command of co. G as well as my own to make them observe cleanliness. A 29 pounder Howitzer was mounted yest. on works No. 2.
